The iPod Touch is a media player, PDA, game console and Wi-Fi mobile platform designed and distributed by Apple Inc. As of March 2011, Apple has sold over 60 million iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch uses flash memory of 8,16, 32 or 64 GB depending on model. It includes the Safari Web browser and Apple's Mail application. You can also connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi and browsing the iTunes Store or App Store (available from version 2.0) to download any song during their stay in the room, or anywhere who have access wireless Internet.

The iPod Touch is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and like the iPhone has a mobile version of Safari. You can also view YouTube videos with a proper application and check the inbox with Apple's Mail application. The Wi-Fi can be used to download music from the iTunes Store and App Store applications, using applications that require Internet access, etc..

Originally, the iPod Touch did not include some iPhone applications, such as: Weather,Maps, Mail, Notes and Exchange. But since the 1.1.3 update, these applications can be added with payment of $ 20 (€ 17.99) and would be included as standard on the new iPods in the month of January 2008.

In the 2.0 firmware included an application for admission to the App Store, and applications that until then were only included in the iPhone. In 3.0, added Spotlight (a search engine that allows you to find applications, contacts, songs and other fast), also added functions to copy, cut and paste, auto fill forms, a serial application to record voice notes, and voice control (the latter is only in the third and fourth generation). While version 4.0 (also called IOS 4) was added the ability to group applications into folders, multitasking and background. These last two features are only officially available for the third and fourth generation. The update IOS 4.1, was added the application "GameCenter" (only in iPod 2G, 3G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 4); This app lets you play downloaded apps and compete online with other players on them.
