AT&T unveils BlackBerry 8820 with Wi-Fi and GPS

Did you remember? Few days back I told you about the launch of RIM’s Wireless BlackBerry 8820 smartphone. But this time RIM’s BlackBerry 8820 is coming for AT&T’s customers. AT&T and Research In Motion are bringing the first cellular and Wi-Fi BlackBerry handset, the BlackBerry 8820.

Now, AT&T customers can use the BlackBerry 8820 with their corporate campus Wi-Fi networks for additional data coverage. While other customers can access it in their homes by paying an additional charges at thousand of Wi-Fi hot-spot throughout the US, including AT&T’s hot-spots.

The BlackBerry 8820 is powered by AT&T’s nationwide EDGE network, the largest high speed national wireless data network in the U.S. The Quad band BlackBerry 8820 from AT&T will allow users, who are away from their home connected with wireless e-mail, Internet access and other mobile applications through data services in more than 135 countries. Customers can use the BlackBerry 8820 to make or receive wireless phone calls in more than 190 countries.

The BlackBerry 8820 supports for 802.11a, b and g with enterprise security features, so that business customers can access their phone at public hot-spot on wireless local area network. With the BlackBerry 8820, customers can also link to their enterprise through home Wi-Fi networks and able to access broadband services.

In addition, the BlackBerry 8820 comes with with a full QWERTY keyboard, an intuitive trackball navigation system and a large, bright landscape (320 x 240) display. The BlackBerry 8820 offers you wide range of AT&T music experience with online subscription of music content from eMusic and XM Satellite radio. Other key features of BlackBerry 8820 are

1. In-built GPS features with the support for solutions like TeleNav GPS Navigator and TeleNav Track
2. AT&T’s Push-to-Talk service
3. Bluetooth 2.0
4. In-built media player and a microSD expandable memory slot for music
5. Photo and video storage

The BlackBerry 8820 will be available for $299.99 with a two-year contract in all 1,800 AT&T retail stores nationwide.
