Research In Motion Limited is a Canadian wireless products company best known for the production of telecommunications equipment BlackBerry handheld. Its headquarters are in Waterloo, Ontario, RIM and sponsors the park in the northeast part of town. It was founded by Mike Lazaridis, who still works at the company as co-CEO along with Jim Balsillie. Its programs are developed using the C++, C and Java. RIM also develops embedded systems for wireless devices. Currently working on a tablet design called "BlackBerry Playbook," to be marketed in 2011, where he intends to compete with the Iphone's U.S. rival Apple Inc.

Before it started with the RIM BlackBerry worked with RAM Mobile Data and Ericsson developed by Ericsson Mobitex wireless data network into a two-way paging and wireless email network. The first BlackBerry was initially marketed in 1999, and used the same hardware as the Inter active pager 950, and was connected to the Mobitex network. The BlackBerry was very successful because it is a unique opportunity that no other wireless e-mail service was. RIM had "two email inboxes" problem. The "two email in boxes" problem was the problem that they had a wireless mailbox and a mailbox company, which works hard because you get two email addresses. RIM was the first company that solved through a "single mail inbox" solution, and between their own software (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and a "Network Operations Center" (NOC). This NOC, located in Canada, gets the mail and ensure that it is sent to all devices connected to the network, thus leaving only one inbox is required. The success of the BlackBerry has made sure that the way the world communicates business has changed dramatically.
