What other companies are planning to have a CDMA+ GSM combination phone other than Verizon?

I have just heard that Verizon is planning to come out with a new quad band phone that can do both CDMA and GSM. I’ve heard that it’s going to be Samsung A790. It will use a Verizon’s CDMA network while outside USA that is in roaming period. And it will use Verizon’s partner Vodafone’s GSM network. Until now I never heard of anything like this but with this venture on row, is there any other company or manufacturer planning anything like this? Actually I have been a Verizon user and have also suffered a lot due to its crappy network. Therefore, don’t want to stick to it again. Any suggestion would be of great help.

Usually phones that Verizon offers with its combination are very cheap and sub-standard like Samsung, LG, Kyocera. Samsung A790 is the phone that is capable of such functionality on the go and if you don’t like it bundled with Verizon, then you could pick a service provider of your choice. Eventually you would have to pick one of your choices. Verizon offers CDMA network while roaming in USA and for those who take a trip abroad every now and then. They shall be pushed to Vodafone’s network. Pick one and you shall be satisfied with the overall experience. The problem is also that you could not find many service provider that provide both CDMA and GSM on their phones. Motorola a840 is a lot like v710. Both the phones have almost the same specification but don’t know if the phones offer Bluetooth connectivity or not. These cell phones are however meant to cater to the needs of the globe trotting community and may be used as a CDMA device while roaming in USA and switch over to GSM connection while on work in EUROPEAN countries.
