According to historians, the first mobile phone was invented and introduced by Ericsson in 1956 in Sweden. This device was known as the Mobile Telephone System A. The cellular phone is easy to use because it is automatic; however, the downside of this device is it weighs 40 kilograms. To convince consumers to purchase and use mobile phones, the telecommunication company has launched an upgraded version of the Mobile Telephone System A in 1965. Hundreds of consumers bought the electronic device from 1965 to 1983 because it only weighs nine kilograms. Leonid Kupriyanovich, a radio engineer in Moscow, Russia developed an automatic mobile phone known as LK-1 in 1957. A year after, Russia developed and introduced Altay service, which can be used by mobile phone users while driving. Russians continued to use the service until 1970. By 1987 there were over one million cell phone users in the US alone. It seemed as if everyone wanted a cell phone and the major companies involved had really hit a home run.
