What is the difference between CDMA Phones and GSM Phones?

Hey guys. I have a question in my mind. I wish to know the differences between the cdma phones and the gsm phones. I have a gsm phone right now and that is a Nokia made model. I want to know that which one is better? I am using the gam at present as I told earlier. I will like to know the pros and cons of both. Please draw some good distinguishing lines between the both. Also tell me that should I go for a cdma phone because I am having some problem with the gsm phone that I am having right now. Thanks for the help in advance!

CDMA and GSM are two different network technologies. They workon two different principals and you will require different handset for thesenetworks. Both CDMA as well as GSM have their own advantages as well asdisadvantages.

You cannot say one isbetter than the other. CDMA network is better in terms of data transfer ratefrom the network while as GSM can provide you connectivity across continents. They work on different frequencies.

GSM isquad- band network while as CDMA is Dual network. It depends on you what you need in yournetwork. If you want faster internet, CDMA is definitely better than GSM. The datatransfer rate in CDMA is four to six times faster than GSM network. But GSM hasadvantage when you are in roaming.

CDMA does not work in roaming and thus CDMAnetwork is quite restricted to a particular place. You should check the networkstrength of CDMA as well as the GSM network before bringing a new phone and switchingover to the CDMA network.

The battery drains very fast in case of CDMA phonesif the signal strength is low. You won’t even have sufficient standby in theCDMA phone in low signal areas.
