Enhanced security feature on mobile phones to stop car theft

Mobile phones can prevent automobile theft or carjacking. It has been made possible by some final year students of Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering (Kerala). They have a found a technology that can detect any intrusion in your car. In this technique, car users are provided with a device and an enhanced security feature on their mobile phone, using which they can lock their car or even stop the ignition, if someone tries to get away with their cars.

Car jacking

Carjacking is happening all over the globe with car users, especially with women drivers. Now, you do not have to fear because your mobile will act as a car protector now. A device will be placed inside the car, which will be connected with your mobile. When someone tries to intrude the car, you receive a call from the device and you know the situation. You just have to call the device back and your car will be locked, even you can stop the ignition. Now, only you can unlock or start your car. Distance is not a problem in this process; it will work even if the user is out of the city. Using the mobile, users can also be made the engine dead, which ensures that no one can use your car other than you.

The project was lead by Chandini, Abhinav, Kiran and Greeshma under the supervision of assistant professor lecturer Bindu V and Sheeja M K. According to them, the price of the device will be around Rs. 2,000 and this can guarantee complete protection from carjacking.
