New Epson LCDs for portable media ensure high visibility

Epson Imaging Devices Corp has developed new Photo Fine HR transflective amorphous silicon TFT (a-TFT) LCDs for use in mobile devices like portable media players and cell phones. Photo Fine HR is being touted to deliver high visibility and low power consumption in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The new Epson transflective LCDs, make use of the transmissive mode with light in dark places, while in open, the surrounding light is used to lower the backlight power consumption. Epson will start shipping the 3-inch L5F30878 and the 3.5-inch L5F30914 Photo Fine HR LCDs in late October 2008.
