Motorola is leaving no stone unturned to compete out the others in the cell phone industry. After RAZR MAXX, RIZR Z3 and Motophone F3c, now it is all set to reveal four new IDEN clamshell phones, i880, i885, ic502 and ic902 , by the end of this year.
The ic502 and ic902 are the first cross-platform handsets as they are also CDMA devices.
The i880 and i885, are supposed to be some sort of fashion handsets, for Nextel and Boost as both features 2Mpix camera and music-dedicated buttons. Pressing the button on the hinge will open the flap for you. The i880 has a faux-leather finish while the i885 has got the looks of a snakeskin.

Is the i880 just for IDEN or it going to be dual mode as well as the ic502/ic902.

the i880 is just only iDEN with PTT functionality unlike the ic502 and ic902 that support CDMA too
i want the ptt that nextel uses but i have a sprint contract so can i buy the phone at sprint and still use the nextel ptt?
Dear Jake, For that you need to verify the policies of Nextel and Sprint. You better visit the Sprint’s website and check whether they provide such facility with their service contract or not.

Well, the handset will feature the WALKIE TALKIE function and sports 1900MHz CDMA for making calls in Sprint network or CDMA roaming. However, it lacks the EV-DO capability. ic502 has a capacity to add 900 contacts in the phonebook.

Well, the pricing hasn’t been revealed yet for these phones. If any one out there has any idea, me too will love to know the pric tags for these handsets.
i work for nextel (CSM) i 502 is just the basic launch phone and is only avail through nextel’s acct services and the basic price on the phone is around 50.00 us on a 2 year contract, uses straight cdms for calls and the iden network for the Walkie talkie features. looking formward to the other 2 models comming out this year and next spring!!
