Joint team of researchers from Universities of York and Newcastle has developed a software that will allow mobiles with camera to be used as a mouse. If you are using this software then you’ll be able to communicate with public displays to search for any sort of information provided by the advertiser. It enables user to control screen cursor using his mobile phone’s camera and Bluetooth technology.
You can easily control cursor by moving your mobile or using your stylus from a distance. Software uses phone’s camera to locate co-ordinates on the screen and then uses Bluetooth to exchange further information. If you are already planning to buy it then you’ll probably have to wait a bit. Researchers themselves admitted that this technology won’t be available in market anytime soon.
Nick Pears, York researcher said,
The image capture and image processing rate on the mobile phone is quite slow and you cannot move the phone as quickly as you would like to. This is what we would like to address in our next prototype.
