As the news of a 3G iPhone continues to do the rounds, we have yet another demonstration of how capable the daddy of all cell phones actually is. A guy called Peter on Maker Faire has set up iPhone to water plants. A simple hack, this one just patches up a robotic watering can to work on the directions of iPhone. As the screen position of iPhone goes from horizontal to vertical, a web server picks this up and via a JavaScript program tells the watering can to do its thing. The end result amounts to another elimination of your hated chores. Clearly this one’s for people with iPhones only. The rest of you deprived lot must trudge along and manually water those damn plants.
