Google Nexus brand is Google's official smartphone. The Web giant, also the developer of the famous Android mobile operating system, has been launching its own Nexus Android smartphones from 2009. Firstly, Google unveiled Nexus One in 2009 with Android 2.2 Froyo. Later, in 2010 fall, Google uncovered a Nexus S on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The first smartphone was manufactured by HTC and the second one by Samsung. What makes Google Nexus brand distinct is that it is the official Android smartphone from Google. It means you will get all Android updates on this device before all other Android devices.

However, if you wish to buy a Nexus phone, I suggest you to wait for a couple of months at this point of time. Because, if rumors can be trusted, we are about to receive the third generation Nexus smartphone from Google this fall. The upcoming device, most probably manufactured by Samsung, will debut Google's hyped-up next generation Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Some rumor mills have reported that the much-awaited third generation Nexus phone will be called Droid Prime. Google and Samsung may possibly announce the gadget in the second week of October, the tech blogs forecast.

So if you love to get an advanced hardware and software, I recommend you wait until the year-end holiday season for Droid Prime. If not, you can go for the current version Nexus S, the first phone on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It is also the first Android smartphone to feature the so-called Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. You can find many other unexpected features on the smartphone.
