What is google tv beta?

Google TV is a planned software platform for set-top boxes and HDTVs based on the Google Android operating system. Google TV is a joint development of the companies Google, Intel, Sony and Logitech. The project was approved by the partners 20th May 2010 officially presented. On 8 September 2010 Google announced the service in 2011 to try to launch the world. On 20 December 2010 it was announced that the launch of Google TV will be delayed further. Possible reasons for this are bad reviews in the press, technical problems and an insufficient supply of TV content.

Concept
In 2010, at the time of the development of Google TV, have the most to the Internet connectable TVs only on specific programs for access to specific Web content (eg YouTube videos and Picasa photo albums) or specially provided for these applications, Web content (eg online gaming, or news). Powerful browser, such as those found in PCs and smartphones, and the high compatibility with access to all current content on the World Wide Web allow to have any significant proliferation.
Google TV will expand the scope for a Google by using the powerful and compatible web browser, Chrome, including support for Adobe Flash, on the other hand should be put the user in a position on a search engine in addition to classic search for web pages also available online to browse video content. This may include both stored video content and live TV programs, TV and Web are thus inextricably fused together.

Google TV is also intended to analyze the viewing habits of the user preferences andidentify them by which individualized programs are created tips.

Google also wants to provide an open-source platform that allows developers to create specialized widgets for Google TV. So we want users to customize their television sets to their individual needs. This aim, the Android operating system will be extended accordingly.

Hardware

According to Google, Google TV not only in special set-top boxes will be implemented for normal TV, but also directly as a native part of future television sets and Blu-ray players from Sony. Sun, Sony has already introduced some devices. The smallest model has a screen diagonal of 24 inches and will be acquired for just under 600 U.S. dollars. Exactly when these devices reach the European market and at what price, is still unclear.
