Why it is hard to make a call from T-Mobile cell phones, Motorola Morrison Android?

I have a single phone number I call regularly. However, to make the call on T-Mobile cell phones, Motorola Morrison Android is not easy. Right now, I need to use my finger to poke about 6 times to get the number from the contacts. And, I do not want to voice activate the call. So, is there a way or application that would make the call with minimum finger work? If I were to have the ideal solution, there would be an app on my home page that when I poke at it would make the call.
