is it important to get data plan for getting at&t new phones?

I have an At&t family plan and I can upgrade now. I want to get the HTC pure but I have to get the $30 a month data plan with the upgrade. I don’t need the internet on my phone; if I purchase this plan to get the phone can I take the data plan off of my features completely to rid the $30 a month fee? Or do I need to have this plan to have this at&t new phones?

I’m AT&T service customer. I have just taken HTC Aria with AT&T service. My answer for your query is ‘Yes’. It is required to apply for $30/month data plan with HTC Pure on the AT&T network.

Also, you can purchase any phone from AT&T, only if you give full retail price. The retail rate for HTC Pure is about $500. But if you are willing to get the HTC Pure with AT&T at discounted price, then you have to obtain the data plan. You can surely pay for it means for full price. If you haven’t opted for data plan then you can’t enjoy it on the AT&T network.

I hope you will get the proper answer of your query.
