First of all you have to purchase a phonebook SIM that you can easily find in any SIM card shop near your house after that you have to insert that into your iphone, now turn off and turn on your iphone and now you will be able to access your iphone but please note that phone book SIM work only for 3GS and iphone 3G but for the iphone 4 you have to convert the phone book SIM into micro SIM after that you will have to insert that into your iphone 4 SIM jack and after that turn off, after some time turn on your iphone, now you are ready to use tools like spirit or Redsnow to jailbreak from iphone, this was the simplest method to upgrade your iphone, in this whole process you may need to on and off your iphone for several times.
