The Apple ipod was invented in the year 2000, and was officially launched in the year, 2001. You know that Apple was keen on tapping the digital devices market. I hope you might know during the year 2000, the digital cameras and camcorders were highly competitive business. Apple thought it may be difficult to break the market and enter into it. Hence, Apple decided to enhance the music player and build up their very own ones. You know it took less than a year to develop, and was finally unveiled in the year 2001. If you want the precise date it was launched on October 23, 2001.

The Apple people marketed their product, by putting nearly 1000 songs, in your pouch. But you know the iPod was not an instant hit. In the initial years of 2002 and 2003, it sales were quite low. But however, by the word of mouth, from its users, the sales greatly enhanced and its fame rapidly increased, in the following years of 2004, 2005 and 2006.

At present, you know that a lion’s share, i.e., 40 % of the Apple’s profit, comes from the sales of its iPods. I hope that the information provided, would have given an insight, into when was iPod invented.
