What is the problem with my ipod nano battery?

I recently bought myself a new sorry brand new iPod nano 5gb and the one problem with this battery is that it runs out too quickly! I think I realized it a bit late. Now I want to know that is this problem unique or is this a common problem. So please help me out with this problem because my I pod is brand new.

Generally this iPod should not be creating any problem. iPod Nano from Apple is the second line of iPods in size. Released on September 7, 2005, follows the line of iPod mini version 62% smaller in volume: only 9.0 x 4.0x 0.69 cm and 42 g. It has an LCD screen capable of displaying 65,536 colors, able to show photos, and connects to the computer via USB 2.0. It uses flash memory, unlike that used iPod mini microdrive.

It has several features that would later be included in the iPod 5th generation. These features were new to the iPod's operating system, including adding several world clocks, timer to turn off after a certain time, and the option to lock the device by a four-digit password set by the user. Once locked, the only ones that can be pressed buttons are the play / pause, forward and backward. The sixth generation was announced on 1 September 2010. Apple announces iPod battery life for this 24-hour and two capacities, 8GB and 16GB.

If you read the nano's technical specs then you will see the nano is good for 24 hours of audio and 5 hours of video with gaming and taking video being tough on the battery as well.Even though you seem to have some pretty high expectations for battery life I would say your nano has a defective battery and you should get it replaced.
