ipod shuffle 2nd generation cannot sync: What to do?

Have this problem with my iPod shuffle 2nd generation. It was working fine until there was some problem in the computer so I had to reinstall everything. I even re-installed the iTunes library. Ealier my iPod was easily synced with iTunes. But now its not able to sync. I get a prompt on the scren that says Erase and Sync. But I dnt wanna loose my songs in the iPod. How can I recover the music from my iPod and keep it backed up so that I can erase and then sync it. Later I can add those songs to the iPod. Please tell me how can I save those songs?

I think if you use that computer to sync your iPod then there should be the back up of the tracks there. So we need not worry about that. I think that there might be some malware problem that is why its not working. Try formatting the iPod and we need not worry about the songs. After that try syncing it with the computer. If that does not work try hard resetting the iPod. You can find the resetting procedure in the manual that must have been provided with the product. Hard resetting the device would roll back all that changes made and the iPod will be back to the factory settings. After that the device should work until and unless it does not have any hardware problems. As an experiment you can try changing the cable and try. Also try it to sync with some of your friend's computer. Nothing works out you will have to contact apple about it. They would fix it for you.
