Japanese cell phones mired with complex features

japanese cellphones jyYIb 17340Japan- a country with the largest megapolis on the planet. Cities with slender skyscrapers which stay unfazed by even the most violent seismic activities. And denizens that eat, sleep and live technology. In a country that is obsessed with hi-technology, a peculiar issue seems to be arising and that being the craving for complex features in cell phones. Most cell phone companies based in Japan have to churn out feature ridden cell phones and most are so complicated that nobody knows how to use them and some features are even redundant.

An average Japanese consumer uses only 5% to 10% of the coveted features Japanese cell phones are forced to provide. When most cell phone users in the West crave for simplicity and at the same time envy the advanced cell phones of Japan, the Japanese are caught in a paradoxical situation where they look for a zillion features but seldom use even a couple of them. Experts speculate that Apple’s iPhone which is shortly to be launched, may create a lot of curiosity in Japan but the consumers might be put off by its simplicity and lack of features.
