Homebrew Applications (Free)

Homebrew software is software or free play (mostly freeware) that offers new features and paid elsewhere. Another way to install third party applications outside of the official catalog Palm called Palm App Catalog is to use applications Homebrew App Catalog. These applications are installed via the Homebrew application Preware whose installation on the Palm Pre is described in this tutorial in French Site PalmPre France. Many of the largest homebrew applications have been developed by the team of developers Web OS Internals.
This community has created Homebrew applications, patches/patches (patches) and themes. She also packaged games like Doom, Quake 1 and 3, Duke Nukem 3D, Tux Racer, etc. Patches (aka "optimizations (tweaks)") that make changes to existing applications from Palm to add or improve function (e.g. see e-mails (E-mail) in landscape mode, see the battery level as percentage increase the number of application icons per page, etc.).Themes allow you to change the graphics in the background of WebOS and icons to match a particular theme. The source of these homebrew applications may be a number of different flows. Homebrew community has standardized on a single stream with a single installation process so that the installation of applications, patches and themes can be done through multiple installers developed independently and can function interchangeably (eg, WebOS Quick Install, Preware, FileCoaster, etc). This means that you can install an application/patch with an installer and/or uninstall the upgrade to another if necessary or desired. The team conducted a site precentral selection of the best WebOS applications in December 2009 with Article Best Apps of 2009 and February 2010 with Article Round Table: Top 10 Editor pre central web OS Apps. Other website have also a list of the best applications like Gizmodo with The 20 Essential Pre Palm Apps (December 2009) and with TechWorld 10 must-have free webOS Palm apps (March 2010). Palm has announced it will open this model (HomeBrew) to make it official from December 2009, leaving developers obtain URL generated by Palm to distribute their applications without having to go through the formal approval process of the Palm App Catalog , then using a self-certification.
