The Palm Pre smart phone is a touchscreen designed and marketed by Palm Inc..
It is a device with multimedia features and software based heavily on Internet connectivity. It is the first cell to have the Texas Instruments OMAP 3430 microprocessor. The phone went on sale on June 6 20091 and is the first electronic device that uses thePalm webOS. This operating system is based on linux kernel modified by the same Palm programmers and the company's initial plan is to use it on other devices.

Best of CES 2009

The Palm Pre won three "Best of CES Awards 2009" by CNET.5 These are: Best in show, Best in its class (cell phones and smartphones) and "The Voice of the People."

Synchronization

The Pre Palm's own software does not use synchronization. By connecting the device to the USB port, it behaves as a mass storage medium, and can copy and paste files through a browser window (like Windows Explorer or the Finder on Mac OS X). Still, natively supports the synchronization of music without DRM with iTunes

Sinergy

Promoted as the main feature and most innovative phone. Synergy is a program embedded in the mobile search and collect information from different sources and social networking to complete data both in the contact list as a calendar. For example, when adding a contact, the system searches for the name of the contact automatically participate in networks where the mobile user and complete the missing information using the data found, for example, on Facebook (or other similar social network). The presentation could see added contacts from Facebook, Outlook and GMail, it is unknown whether there is a possibility of including other sources.

wireless charging

During the presentation of CES 2009 was also the Touchstone, a charging base by magnetic induction. This base is connected to a power source and sticks on a regular surface, the mobile phone battery will begin charging the same Palm Pre support on the base. Thus, the battery is charged without having to connect through cables is an element that was curious, since so far no reputable manufacturer offered wireless charging devices.

Flash playback

On February 16, 2009, still open the GSMA Mobile World Congress, reported that Adobe is developing Flash Player 3.1 for Symbian OS mobile operating systems and Windows Mobile. For this sample, it was confirmed that Palm web OS also have a Flash player version programmed by Adobe.
