How to perform a droid update?

I got this phone before this latest droid update came up. To be precise it was one month back. But now my phone won't even update to market 3.1.3 despite my phone running android 2.3.3 gingerbread. Why isn't my phone receiving the new market update despite me using my Wi-Fi or 3G network? Any suggestion what seems to be the problem. I asked my friend about the same problem and he couldn't help either. There was no fix for this online too. Please help me out.

Hey no need to worry, I am a software engineer and I have got all the details on how to manually update your Droid to the official,Verizon-and-Google-blessed build. It will take about 10 minutes to do this if you know the procedure of updating it and in this your device doesn’t need to be rooted, over clocked, under pantsed, or what have you. First of all you have to download it and it will be downloaded in zip format but you don’t need to unzip as your downloading software will do this for you. Then rename the file. Take themicroSD card from your phone, plug it into a microSD card reader, and it shouldbe in main folder of your micro SD card and then Turn your Droid off, and putthe microSD card back in. Hold down the letter “X” on the keyboard. While still holding it, turn your Droid back on. Push thevolume up button and the camera button at the exact same time. Use thed-pad to navigate to the “apply: update.zip” option, and choose the file youjust dragged onto your microSD card and it is finished.
