How to get a phone for Europe for 3 weeks?

Hi guys, can anyone of you help me to find a phone for Europe for 3 weeks, only to get emergency calls on it? I will be in Europe for 3 weeks and considering a cell phone for emergency calls from my family if needed during that period. I’ve searched on Fodors Europe forum where there is a fair amount of info, but needed some user reviews about them so that it can help me to go for the best. I was also going to try to call Verizon today as I understand one can rent an international phone from them. Thanks for any suggestion.

If you are going to Europe for 3 weeks then international calling cards is the best option. International calling cards are also a good way to tackle the problem but since I have started using the international cell phone I have taken a sign of relief. Actually one needs to understand the concept of international cell phone. An international cell phone is classified as a GSM cell phone which operates on the GSM 900 and GSM 1800 frequency. A international cell phone with the appropriate sim card will definitely provide coverage in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific Rim including Australia. A world cell phone with the GSM 1900 frequency will definitely expand coverage to include the United States, Canada and a growing part of South America. I also choose to buy a Telestial international cell phone from its wide range. My question for a good multimedia cell phone ended at the Samsung i5500 Galaxy 5, with a cost of around $210 to be paid for it, the phone was a good choice for me. It has a large touch screen, 2 megapixel camera, excellent connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS, swype texting and the solid Android operating system to bring it all together. There are a lot more choices to choose from.
