How can I conduct the precise internet speed test?

I m a verizon DSL internet user and the speed sucks sometimes. I called the company, they did a speed test and a few other things. After an hour they told me that the speed is good. They said I am getting the speed I am paying for. I pay for a 2 megs of speed. But, I suspect that the speed isn't 2 megs. So is there a place or website where I can perform an internet speed test. I wish the website should give an accurate data since I am about to sue the company. I wish to check both the download and upload speed. Thanks

Personally, I think that you can use the internet speed checker of your internet service provider as they are more authentic and reliable. The reason is that they never flout their statistics for influencing their own customers. Whereas the third-party internet speed checker website never maintains this norm. Somehow, they bloat their internet speed statistics to their expected figure. However, still if you are doubtful about your ISP's result so you may go to Speedtest website where you will get the nice graphical presentation of your internet speed. As far as my experience is concerned, I always follow my ISP's speed checker. The accuracy of internet speed is always doubtful because of the network congestion. In real time, you will never get the accurate result of internet speed. Practically, it is impossible. The reasons are various relating to the internet network connection and the implementation of the internet infrastructure. The testing procedure of the internet speed depends on the download speed and upload speed. The speed rate actually compared with T1 line transmission, which is the highest limit of the internet speed backbone. So it is better to stay with your internet service provider and get the friendly service from them as it will develop a positive relationship among you and your internet service provider.
