even i needed a good prepaid cell phone service being a constant-migraine patient, i am advised by the doctor to not keep cell phones with me. so i have to use messaging everywhere instead of talking. i use Verizon prepaid which allows me to pick the best option for my messaging as well as calling habits. they have the largest calling networks in the country. WIth the monthly plans the basic text messaging rate is also 20 cents. Unlimited text messaging is available with any of the plans for an additional 20 dollars per month. Picture and video messages cost 25 cents each. Pretty satisfactory if you live in the US.
