It has been a gossip among gadget freaks that Samsung Omnia II will be a great phone because of its amazing display. The reason for this matter being a hot topic is that Samsung is going to provide AMOLED technology resistible touchscreen in this cellphone which is much better than the one used in traditional cellphone screens.

AMOLED is short form of Active Microvision Organic Light Emitting Diode. It is a very thin bright display technology. In this technology there is no backlight used. As there is no backlight we get a very true picture since backlight is not present to wash out the colors. This is exactly like dark and bright rooms. The display of this phone will be as vivid as Microvision pico projector.

AMOLED technology consists of Thin Film Transistor (TFT)layer. This TFT layer consists of OLED pixels. These OLED pixels form a matrix. When these OLED pixels are activated using electrical energy in the cellphone battery they illuminate light to render white and colourful display and to show black display this technology uses inactive OLED pixels. TFT layer controls the amount of electricity used to activate or deactivate the OLED pixels to render the desired output image.

Since there is not back light present in this cellphone colors are absolutely richer. It definitely will give you better and brighter display in sunlight than that of your current Motorola cellphone as AMOLED displays are brighter. Also this screen will have lesser chances of scratches as it is resistive touchscreen display. However also note that the lifespan of AMOLED display is lesser than traditional LCD display.
