save a wet cell phone

I have a samsung cellphone and I was just trying to clean our home pool. The phone was in my shirt and the phone slipped down into the pool full of water. I quickly dived in and took the phone out. When I came out its display showed some dipixeled screen and I tried unlocking and the phone went off. So I paniced and opened the cellphone took out the memory card, SIM and those sort of things from the phone. I wiped it and left it to dry. But I m afreaid to put it back together. What should I do to save this wet cell phone?

Firstly, it is a good thing that you took out the memory card, SIM and battery from the phone immediately after getting it out of water. It is advisable that you should take the phone to nearest Samsung authorized service center, so that it can be repaired. But before that, there is a home remedy you can try which was also found very useful in the past. Take a bowlful of uncooked, dry rice and dip your mobile inside the rice on bowl. Be mindful that the phone is completely covered with rice and also make sure that the rice is dry enough before that. Keep the phone on that position for some 3 to 4 hours and take it back. Affix your SIM and battery on the phone and check if it is working, and most likely it will. Dry rice is a great desiccant that absorbs a lot of moisture, and thus works perfectly for absorbing water droplets from your phone. If the phone still does not turn or or showing artifacts after turning on, it is better to give the phone to a service center.
