How to select the best cell phone antennas for home?


Living in Newark city NJ but still there is a lot of cellular signal problems that i face and sometimes it gets too weak such that I am not even able to make a call. I tried different operators but even it couldn't prove worth. After strong thought I have finally decided to use a external cell phone antennas for my home and office building. Has anyone got a good deal of information about external cell phone antennas. I am using LG Optimus phone with Verizon Wireless. Please help me with this.
