How to send AT&T text message from computer?

It is possible to send AT&T text messages from your desktop to another person’s cell phone. To send messages add cell phone numbers into your AIM buddy list and then just IM my friends' phones from AIM Express. This way you can keep a threaded conversation going without bothering with email. This however truncates the messages.
