Send email to AT&T cell phone?

I have a AT&T cell phone and been trying to send some important emails to my handset. I am going to outside and some mails may be important for me. so guys, help me to get a method to send the email to AT&T cell phone from my computer. I want to keep some mails in messages box so that it can be easy to get the mail at any time. Though, I can use internet in my mobile phone for emails, but it would be very expensive to surf internet in roaming network area. So please help me soon.
