Are recent verizon news with iPhone true?


I am planning to buy an AT&T based iPhone to my sister on this Christmas. But I am in a little bit of limbo because I have coming across some verizon news that iPhone is also coming with Verizon mobile. I am currently using this network so I think good to go for the same network. But since now there is no official date of announcement from apple or Verizon. What should I do? Should I buy AT&T or wait to Verizon to come with iPhone.
