Verizon to offer visual voicemail

Not to be outdone by AT&T and Sprint, Verizon has decided to launch the visual voice mail technology on its phones. The decision came the same day on which Apple and AT&T licensed the technology for the iPhone. Sprint will follow suit by launching the technology on its Samsung Instinct on Friday. The service will be available on LG Chocolate 3, LG ‘Voyager Refresh’, Motorola ‘Utopia’ and Motorola ‘Blaze’ by the end of July or early August. However, while the others are providing the service free of cost, Verizon will attach a monthly subscription of $1.99 to it. It is easy to access and install. It is available as a BREW download to all the customers who sign up for the service.

The visual voice mail technology displays a list of messages from which you can choose the ones of interest to you without having to check all the other mails or voice instructions. It is nice that Verizon has taken the initiative of making the technology available to other gadgetry of the wireless industry rather than the iPhone alone, albeit for a price.
