Are the rumors of discoloration in white iPhone 3GS true?

I am planning to buy a white iPhone 3GS but I am hearing some rumors that there is slightly a discoloration problem and it has changed to some unattractive, brownish or pinkish color. I was pretty much prepared to buy this phone but now I am a bit reluctant. I am asking you this because I heard a lot about it but I am not able to find it anywhere! A straightforward answer will be appreciated.

From your question, it seems like you have quite set your mind on a white iPhone 3GS, specifically. First, if it is possible for you, I would like to suggest you an iPhone 4 which is the current model in iPhone series and also available in white color. The rumors you have heard about discoloration of white iPhone 3GS is partially true. There are number of verified reports of pink coloration of the backside of white iPhone 3GS models and also most importantly cracking of the white polycarbonate shell Apple used in the model. Though infrequent, these are pretty serious issues to ignore when you are looking forward to buy a brand new phone. Under these circumstances, I suggest you to opt for a white iPhone 4 instead of the old generation 3GS. iPhone 4 is much faster, has a great LCD screen with unmatched PPI (Pixels per Inch) and performance in the category and also comes with iOS 4. iOS 4 revolutionized mobile OS platform by offering multitasking and added a lot of new features. Also, with iOS 5 just around the corner, it is far better to opt for an iPhone 4. Also, if you can wait a little bit longer before taking the plunge, Apple is rumoured to unveil their new iPhone in this October. So, you can either opt for the new device, or get an iPhone 4 after the launch at a much lower price.
